I Was Glad! – Singing Morning with Bexhill Choral

Have you ever thought you would like to give choral music a try but wondered if it was really for you? Or have you sung in the past but hesitated to take it up again? Now is your chance to give it a go! This fun and friendly ‘taster’ morning will give our visitors a chance to participate in singing two wonderful classical choruses: Parry’s glorious anthem ‘I was Glad’ – familiar from the recent Coronation and other royal events – and the haunting ‘Lacrimosa’ chorus from Mozart’s Requiem, as heard in the film ‘Amadeus’ but also frequently used in other films, TV series and commercials.
Anyone is welcome, including those with little or no experience of singing choral ‘classics’.
The morning will be led by Bexhill Choral Society’s well-known Director of Music, Kenneth Roberts, with advice on singing from local and international soprano soloist Kristy Swift, who sang the solo role in our premiere of Kenneth Roberts’ cantata Iseult earlier this year…

The singing morning will take place between 10am and 1pm on Saturday, 2nd November at Christchurch Methodist Church, Springfield Road, Bexhill, TN40 2BX. Singers should arrive by 9.45 at the latest.

The cost is £10 which is payable on the day and includes music hire and refreshments.

Email us for further information or go to our website to download an application form – pre-booking will ensure you a place and will help with the planning.
